This year, the pass percentage in CBSE is 99.37% which is around 11% higher than yesteryear. UP
Board has witnessed a pass percentage of 97.88% which is 23% higher than the previous year. While
Rajasthan Board has declared the pass percentage of 99.97, the Haryana Board has made the ace with
100% result. The story is literally similar to the other boards as well. Hence, we tend to find a high UG
admission rush amid high pass percentages and marks in board exams.
While Delhi University will follow its merit criteria for its undergraduate admissions this year, the University
of Lucknow will be conducting entrance-based admission for all UG courses this year. The universities in
West Bengal is not going to be asked not to conduct entrance exams for UG level courses due to the
Covid-19 pandemic.
It is very likely that there would be more competition for admission in private varsities as most of the
government universities are not going to increase the seats in their UG courses. Each private university
will have its own policies for admission. For instance, Amity University, Punjab will conduct its
entrance test based on general knowledge and subject-related questions. However, the eligibility for
appearing in the entrance exam is 75% marks in class 12. The good news is that AU is going to give direct
admission with a full fee waiver to the students who have scored 95% and above.
The students are therefore suggested to work beyond their scores in the Board exams. They should
work on their Statements of Purpose (SOPs) and build an all-round portfolio, and extra-curricular
achievements.
